[sticky post] Friends Only

Although all my fics and some other of my interesting entries/rants/essays are public, most of my entries concerning my personal life (or that have pictures of me) are friends-only.  Please comment to be added.

Randoms adding me (without commenting) are a bit creepy and won't be accepted. :)

ETA: For all entries that labeled fanfic, I do not own the respective rights to the movie/book/tv show/etc, and make no money off of writing the stories. All entries are appropriately headed with warnings.

Long Time No Update

Hello everyone!

X_X Jeeze it has been a while.

I will admit I've been spending a lot of time over at tumblr (same username), but I haven't updated that in a while either (save liking things--but then, I've been here randomly commenting on things too).

I've got a full time job (actually got it back in March)! Which is awesome in the sense I have a job, and am getting paid. However, I've got a 45 minute commute (driving! I'm driving 5 days a week!), and usually come home exhausted. Thus, one reason for lack of activity.

How has everyone been doing? What is everyone up to? Who is still active? XD

Hope you are all well. :)

Same Sex Marriage Bill Passed NY Senate!

I was in my screenwriting class, and when she told us to think up three different ideas, my mind for some reason went to the thought of fairy tales (especially those I had just newly read about in my Fairy Tales class last semester)  that hadn't been made into films. And by films, I am referring to one with the seriousness (by which I mean not a ridiculous parody or joke) Disney treats its (good) adaptations-- like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and The Princess and the Frog. I am not including Rapunzel on this list, because it is in the works by Disney. These are works I am familiar with (which gives it a bias towards Irish and Japanese fairy tales), and that I can see working well if exteneded into a feature film--especially an animated one. I did not include stories I know, but are basically alternate versions of Snow White or Cinderella etc.

If you have one to add that I may not know or overlooked, you are more than welcome to mention it in comments.

The StoriesCollapse )

I'm a little late in posting this, but I didn't want to rush. So here it is, my very long entry on the issue that was news two days ago. XD

In case you haven't heard, California Judge Vaughn Walker declared Prop 8 unconstitutional and had it overturned!

Judge counters typical arguementsCollapse )
LGBT parents are just as good as heterosexual parentsCollapse )

But on a funny end note, I give you hilarious, counter-protest signs to the Westboro Baptist Church (the people who say "God hates fags"). And more here (much of these are Futurama-themed, which I find that much more amusing XD).

Writer's Block: Work, work, work

Would you rather work at a job that you enjoy but pays little or work at a miserable job that pays a lot?

Definitely a job that I enjoy. I can work my way up to a better salary doing something I like. Assuming the job is enough to get by on, I'd definitely prefer the one I enjoy, even if there is a better paying job available. I'd rather be getting by and happy, than miserable and wealthy. I don't need more stress by doing a job I don't like just for the money--I'll end up spending that money on stuff to cheer me up and then that makes the extra money kind of meaningless because it'd be gone that fast. If I have a job I enjoy, even if I can't have that extra stuff, I'm doing something I love and am happy, so I have less of a need to spend on that extra stuff. I'm happy without it, doing something I enjoy. I hope that's what I end up with.

That being said, still no response yet from the internships I sent cover letters and my resume out for. I keep looking for new ones, but I'm now realizing my tentative schedule for the Fall is making it a pain in the ass to find ones. A lot of them want two full week days, but by full days they mean 9-5, and I only have one day off and two others that I have class starting at 1:55 on one day and 4:30 on the other. The 1:55 one is mandatory so I can't get rid of that, and the 4:30 class would be a pain to change, but even if I could, the only alternative is an earlier class on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Tuesdays and Thursdays I have three classes right now, one of which will definitely have to be dropped if I get an internship in the fall. I won't be dropping all three though (I don't think I can and still be considered a full time student). So it's very difficult to find an internship that I will be able to do given my schedule. I am looking though, but I am still hoping for a response from someone (i do believe part of the reason I haven't gotten a response is due to the fact that some of the deadlines are still open--I'm hoping that really right now).

The weather outside right now is 99'F (which is 37'C), be we are being warned that it is likely to get to about 104'F (40'C). It's been like this since yesterday. We are all being advised to stay inside (although tomorrow is supposed to be less scorching).

I remind you I am still in the basic same area where we were covered in snow from December to April.

But yeah, so outside not too great right now...

Avatar: The Last Airbender Girls Kick Ass.

Okay, this was going to be part of the previous post, but ended up becoming so detailed it's basically become an entry of its own, so I'm making it one. After hearing some (what I assume to be since I have seen pictures disproving it) false information about the Kyoshi Warriors not being in the movie (or were they initially in and cut?), I began to (and still worry) that the Avatar girls will be misrepresented in the film. So this is basically me talking about how awesome the girls in the series are, and how I hope this is continued in the movie series at the very least.

The girls in Avatar: The Last Airbender totally kick ass.

Avatar girls, good or bad, kick ass.Collapse )
Avatar: The Last Airbender is a fantastic series, yet the movie adaptation appears to be focusing on all the wrong things. And this is all aside from the Racebending problems.
