Also, coincidentally, on campus today at 4:30 (which I'm currently waiting for), there is a major debate between the President of the National Organization for Marriage (big Anti-gat marriage group) and the President of Marriage Equality for New York on the issue of gay marriage entitled "Who Should Marry?". It will be interesting to say the least, because I've yet to hear a real arguement against same-sex marriage that makes any sense or holds water at all. It is always either religion, ignorance, or lies from the opponents.
I'm actually shocked the NOM leader agreed to this, which is mostly why I'm going--currently alone but maybe someone I know will show up. And I will not be silent the entire time if I'm allowed to make questions or comments because that's practically impossible for me on this issue. I wonder if any college student NOM supporters will show up--there are a bunch of kids here with me already holding support same-sex marriage signs. So I wonder if the other side of people my age will show up too, as I'm sadly sure they exist (although it's one thing to have that opinion, and another to fee strongly enough to go to a debate about it) and wonder why they feel that way.
Will probably post a longer entry later and fill you all in more on this and on the many crazy things going on in my life that I meant to do last week. (Things are ridiculously busy.)

WASHINGTON-- The House voted Thursday to expand the definition of violent federal hate crimes to those committed because of a victim's sexual orientation, a step that would extend new protection to lesbian, gay, and transgender people.
Democrats hailed the vote of 281 to 146, which brought the measure to the brink of becoming law, as the culmination of a long push to the curb violent expressions of bias like those of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay Wyoming college student.

Who the hell lies about being gang raped by five men??? Now their faces and names and everything are out there attatched to this story and...ugh!!!
And god forbid someone actually gets raped later this semester--what's the first thing everyone is going to think???

This past Sunday, at 3AM, in a dorm building diagonally across from my own, a girl was gang-raped in the bathroom by five different guys. One was a campus student, the rest were off-campus friends of his. The police (thanks most likely to the fact that all the guys DID check in with the RSR and their drivers liscences were put into the system as is mandated by campus security) have caught four of the boys, one is still on the run but is known to police and has obviously been banned from campus.

And anyone who finds it appropriate to openly theorize the girl deserved it or she's saying it only because she hates minorities or some stupid shit like that derserves to be charged with something too and I only hope that the poor girl hasn't heard any of that crap. She's already a victim as is. She doesn't deserve to be the subject of stupid comments too.

Ben&Jerry's have even changed their ice cream flavor "Chubby Hubby" to "Hubby Hubby" in celebration of this!
New Hampshire same-sex marriages will start January 1, 2010.
And September 11, 2009 Maine ones will start too, however the following November a vote may be held to veto the marriages, so there's still a bit of a battle there.
But it still certainly makes me happy and hopeful for the future here.

Unfortunately, the internet from my computer isn't working because I forgot my ethernet cable (hopefully, my mom will find it soon!) So I decided to try out LJ Mobile from my phone (typing on which is annoying). Because (and no matter how many times it happens I still don't get it) despite internet not working on my labtop it does work on my phone.
So I'm going to work on some of the prompts (word still works after all). Good thing wrote that annoying list the other day!
That's all for now, because typing this is quite annoying, and I'm not sure this will work yet...

I keep logging in, then clicking next, and then it says downloading, but then a box pops up saying "file is empty"!
I uninstalled and then reintalled the program, and it still gives me the same problem.
Is anyone else having this issue? Are the changes and updates to LJ in general the reason it's not working?
And if so, has anyone found a program to replace this older one?

I seriously love this Writing Meme! I've got another story finished, and have realized and decided I love writing Azula/Mai/Ty Lee. Those girls are awesome, and leave room for femslash. I've got a couple of ideas for bigger fics too with them already. I finished another little fic with them yesterday (that has hints of femslash of the Tyzula variety) that I think turned out pretty good.
What I like best about this writing meme is the fact that it's getting me back in the writing habit and giving me idea for non-fic stories as well, which is what I had most hoped for when I decided to do this meme!
I'll probably be closing it soon, but especially for those on my flist it IS still open, mostly because I love the ideas people are coming up with. And again, if you have ideas for HSM prompts, or something of the iCarly or Drake&Josh variety, it IS welcome and allowed! So far I have only one HSM and two HP and one Jonas Brothers prompt as far as non-Avatar prompts go. :)

Also have a headache and feel like crap.
And I have a driving lesson today! Not looking forward to that at all. I've got a feeling coughing while you drive isn't such a good idea. But I doubt my mom will cancel it since she already cancelled my sister's today since she and the instructor got in a major fight last time.
I haven't been able to practice since our last lesson, even though I told him I would. But with my dad quitting smoking and all, I haven't wanted to ask him, plus I actually have been busy, or at least busier than I thought. I just hope he isn't that angry at me. :(
Writing meme still going pretty well, I've got one prompt down (fairly long) and ideas for a few of the others already and started writing some of them too. Hopefully they all won't be as long as this first one. I've got to learn to be more concise. Not only for the sake of the prompts, but if I'm less worried about going on forever, I probably won't be as hesitant to write in general. :)
